Chicken Pickin’ is a summertime family-friendly event happening annually on Purple Haze Farm in Leiper’s Fork, TN, just outside the Nashville metropolitan area. The event celebrates Southern tradition, good food, arts and crafts, and Bluegrass.
In order to appeal to the target audience of the event, I created a chicken family to be Chicken Pickin’s mascots. They appear and reappear throughout the event’s brochure and self-mailer, lending each design character and personality. The eight-color palette emphasizes warm orange and red to highlight the fun, artsy aspect of the event, while the typefaces I created for the self-mailer, brochure, and logo simulate handwritten and hand-painted typography.
As a final touch, I enhanced my designs with texture in order to give the event a naturalistic, authentic feel.
